I have an iPhone and just checked my settings. Call filter is something different. Instead try Settings>Apps>Phone>Call Blocking & Identification>Silence Junk Callers.

I also keep Silence Unknown Callers on unless I’m expecting someone like a repairman that’s going to call when he’s on the way. Any other business or doctor, I add to my contacts as I acquire them.

None of this helps with the texts, but it’s a dream for the phone calls. They still show up in the Recents list, so I can see how many I’m gloriously missing.

Honesty, I've had a lot of fun every time I get scam texts purporting to be a woman saying "hi", sometimes asking if I want to chat. I tell them "REPENT! For the Kingdom of God is Near!!!", or they should go to church & repent for the sin of trying to defrauding people. I quote Bible verses to them telling them they've sinned with their lies. They try to pretend they texted the wrong number and ask if I'm their friend (always a female friend).. I tell them no, I'm Jesus Christ their Lord. It always confuse them. Sometimes it makes them mad. They quickly quit when they think they're dealing with a religious nut job.

Hey, I didn't ask them to text me. They asked for it.

I am so fortunate that I’ve only lived here for a couple years and my number isn’t on any lists. By comparison, I see the dozens of spam calls my partner receives daily and how aggravating it is for him, so now he’s currently reading this article!

(Hi sweetheart!)

great suggestions, as always.

Gotta get that data removed. Emails you can unsubscribe from, but the root of the issue is the data we have habitually given away. Remove the data and change the habits. That’s the only way.
