This is a generic thank you, Jason, for your hugely knowledgeable and accessible posts. I’ll be upgrading to paid status next month as another subscription expires.
I have learned so (frighteningly) much thanks to you and I am in the process of getting all of my new Proton functionality set up as the core first steps.
I’m not at all tech-savvy so your educational posts, which left me feeling empowered to tackle this process, have been wonderful.
Thank you for these podcasts/webinars. They are very helpful. How would you rank Total AV compared to the other anti-virus services you have discussed, like Malwarebytes. It is hard to discern by online reviews whether Total AV is not enough protection/overpriced compared to the others. Thanks.
It’s better than most basic AV however it would still be classified as basic. To get the real high quality threat detection needed with the most modern threats we’re dealing with it’s simply not enough. Bitdefender is probably ranked highest overall at the moment however I like the url blocking feature of Malwarebytes and their premium plan features like the data removal and identity theft protection. When bundled together it’s a great value for the price. All depends on your budget and what features you value.

I ditched AT&T over 25 years ago. They were a shitty company then and apparently they still are.
