Jason, thanks for providing this vauable info free on Substack, I could NEVER keep up with all the info I have gained from this site...am low on the income scale, and if I were to subscribe to all those that have been a positive in my life from this site I would be broke...and now I feel a bit more confident in basic safety on my cell and laptop... thank you very much.

What does SSO stand for? When you use acronyms like this, you should explain what they are.

Great article! Thank you for sharing. I am off all Meta products, but I still have 4 apps that use google sign-on. This is a great reminder!

I would say that the single point of failure is in fact the single point of contact for hackers. Great piece!

I use Dashlane and have for several years. It’s worth every cent of the $60/year price. I have 221 unique passwords, along with 50 that are reused, but locked, as are all of them in my Dashlane vault. I rarely log in to any site with Google, and just deleted any sites attached to my Google account, except for my Mac—thanks for the reminder. Deleted FB, and all Meta apps except for WhatsApp, months ago. I need WA to communicate with two people outside the US. Can’t migrate from Gmail; it’s been my email for more than a decade.

Your article did make me think about other things to be aware of. Thank you, Jason, for the information.

Now I am rightly afraid & overwhelmed. I need to take a minute, do a little breathing, calm myself & then begin following your step-by-step process. Thank Jason for looking out for our best interests.

I know it’s scary sometimes but we often need a pattern interrupt to make real change. That is my goal.

It ought to be an actual crime for that “sign in with Google” pop up to appear for Web sites that don’t require a log-in.

I’m genuinely in a quandary over the use of SaaS in general, and Google and Microsoft in particular, because I no longer own my own data. Trying to map out an exit strategy.

Ironically, to order your guide, the first options offered are the SSOs. LOL

I never use Google sign in. In fact i often refuse to give the website insisting on Google or Facebook sign in my time and custom.

I have been using sign in with Apple quite a bit, but I'll move those accounts over. Unfortunately, a few of them only support sign in with Apple and offer no alternative, so those will have to stay as they are, but I can still reduce the number which use it.
